On April 18 (Friday), ambassador to Japan for the United Republic of Tanzania Salome T. Sijaona visited the Tokyo main office of Be Forward Co., Ltd.(main office: Chofu, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Hironori Yamakawa), a company striving to be the world leader in used-car sales and exporting.

In a conversation with our company representative, the Ambassador stressed the necessity of friendly economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries and commented on the building anticipation for even more compromise in the future as well as the hope that Be Forward will serve as a bilateral mediator between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Director Yamakawa extended his appreciation for the attendance of Zanzibar Vice President Seif A.

Iddi to the one-year anniversary party held on-site at our Tanzania office in November of the previous year, and stated his commitment to building economic and cultural bridges between Tanzania and Japan through things like CSR activities, human networking such as internships, and creating more job opportunities to add to the approximately 500 positions currently held by the Tanzania staff.

During the discussion, our company announced its plans to send free aid in the form of about 98,700 daily necessity items (valued at around JPY 14 million) to Tanzania; the goods will be transported through collaboration with major maritime shipping company Hoegh Autoliners (main office: Chiyoda District, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Jun Kobayashi) and are expected to arrive in Tanzania by the end of June.

As a gift to honor the visit, 413 cardboard boxes containing medical equipment currently being stored at Tanzania's Japanese Embassy will be transported at that time as well.

After the meeting, the Ambassador took a tour of our Tokyo office, offering words of encouragement in the official language of Swahili to our African staff members, who include three employees from Tanzania.

The Ambassador also seemed very astonished that one of our Japanese staff members (a former JICA volunteer) could speak Swahili, and inquired about the story behind that.

On April 26, 2014, the United Republic of Tanzania celebrated its fifty-year anniversary;at the proceedings, the Tanzanian ambassador to Japan recognized our contributions to the country.

We hope that our donations this time are useful in improving the welfare and quality of life of the people of Tanzania and help to continue the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and Japan.
