About Used Car Exhaust Gas Regulations in Japan



The exhaust gas regulations is in order to cope with environmental issues every year becomes severe,

Those that regulate the amount of harmful substances such as CO and HC, NOx, PM contained in the exhaust gas of the vehicle.

Every revision of exhaust gas regulations has been changed the Capital Letter.

Until 2004 regulations represents the exhaust gas regulations values in one letter or two characters.

On and after 2005 regulations represents the exhaust gas regulation values in three letters.

  • DBA-xxxxxx means...

    Vehicles that needs gasoline or liquefied petroleum gas as fuel. (except for a hybrid vehicle) Applied for 2005

    Also for the passenger Riding capacity of 10 people or less ordinary vehicles and small cars, as well as exclusively minicar.


    Applied for the year 2005 regulations, also Basic car exhaust regulations lowering level 75%

    There are Four types of capital letter

  • DBA-xxxxxx

  • Applied for the year 2005 regulations, also Basic car exhaust regulations lowering level 50%

  • CBA-xxxxxx

  • Above regulations are as an example,
